This report, written by Arthur Reuter, Acting Commissioner of the Temporary Commission of Investigation, gives a detailed examination of the Department of Parole, the life of Joseph Lanza, and the politics in New York City during the 1950s. Written for Governor W. Averell Harriman in 1957, Reuter described the lack of supervision over Lanza during his parole and Lanza's connections to organized crime within the Fulton Fish Market and in New York City. This investigation resulted in a review of the parole system throughout the state. This series contains twenty-five copies of this report.
